The Village of Cockfield has been represented by a football club since just before the Second World War. The history of Cockfield United is currently being researched.
The earliest picture on record at present is of the season 1947/48, when Cockfield United won the league and were proudly pictured outside the Village Hall with the trophy.
Cockfield also won the league the following season 1948/49.
(Pics Below)
Cockfield were long standing members of the Bury and District Football League until 1999 when they joined the Suffolk and Ipswich League. They were the losing finalists in the Junior Cup in the 1999/2000 season. This was followed up with Cockfield winning the Junior Cup in 2002/2003 defeating Framlingham 1-0 in the final at Ipswich.
Today the Club is represented on three fronts the first team, managed by Richard Golding, the reserves, managed by Adrian Perry and the Youth team that is managed by Steve Bailey.
Hopefully the Youth team will provide the players for the future of the club.
